Howard Stern is taking off his gloves and going after CBS in a pre emptive strike of his own. He fully expects a lawsuit claiming he cost the network millions of dollars by “promoting” his move to Sirus radio while on the air last summer. Frankly… we wonder why they left him on the air if that was such an issue? Could it have been that the sky rocketing ratings they were getting over the summer might have had something to do with it? Talk about trying to have it both ways! CBS with lower ratings than George Bush still doesn’t get it!
‘They’re floundering,’ Stern said, adding that talk of a suit was meant as a distraction from CBS Radio’s problems.
Stern said he had a meeting with Moonves and CBS Radio chief executive Joel Hollander about three weeks ago to discuss their complaints.
‘I said, ‘Les, what’s going on?” said Stern. ‘He said it’s nothing personal, it’s just business. But … it is personal.’
Stern’s move to Sirius, touted more than a year in advance, was seen as a bold bid by the fledgling satellite radio business to attract some of his millions of fans as paying subscribers.
Stern said his move garnered much media attention and CBS added to it, booking him for appearances on its news magazine show ‘60 Minutes’ and ‘Late Show with David Letterman.’
‘I made them millions of dollars. If I was hurting them why did they keep me on the air for 14 months?’ Stern said. ‘How can you have it both ways?’”

ANOTHER BLOG BANNED IN THE UAE
Ok this is one for the Port Meisters. Seems like the U.A.E. is good at managing internet ports as well.
[Hat Tip: Michelle Milken]
We’ve decided not to rejig our editorial process to make it easier for a censorware company to block us for their customers. Instead, we’re creating a clearinghouse of information on how to defeat censorware.
Last week, we reported that Boing Boing was blocked by entire countries including the United Arab Emirates, and by many library systems, schools, US government and military sites, and corporations.
Today, we’ve learned that Internet Qatar, the sole ISP in the State of Qatar, has also banned BoingBoing.
We’ve heard from librarians in Africa who want to watch the video of the American Register of Copyrights denouncing Congress, employees at the Australian Broadcasting Company, students, and workers around the world who can’t gain access to our work. More…
Guess the folks over a Boing Boing have offended the sensibilites of the UAE as well as Quatar. I hope they are not planning any company cruises out of the U.S. any time soon.

Keep an eye on this one! While the world is pre-occupied in the Middle East, expect China to make it’s move.
International News Article | Reuters.com: “BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s state media on Tuesday called Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian’s scrapping of a body on reunification ‘provocative’ and said the move marked a step toward independence that could endanger peace in the region.
Chen said on Monday the National Unification Council and 15-year-old symbolic guidelines on eventual unification had ‘ceased to function’, but he also said that did not mean the self-ruled island would push for formal independence.
‘His further escalation of secessionist activities will no doubt stoke tensions and trigger a serious crisis in the Straits,’ the state-run China Daily said in an editorial.
‘Chen’s risky and provocative actions also threaten to destroy peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region,’ it said.
The comments echoed a statement by China’s policy-making Taiwan Affairs Office published on Monday that warned that scrapping the body would spark crisis in the Taiwan Strait.”

[Hat Tip: LGF] Here are excerpts from a program aired on Qatar TV February 25, 2006, featuring noted “moderate” Islamic cleric Sheik Yousef Al-Qaradawi, founder of the IslamOnline web site and head of the European Council for Fatwa and Research. (Courtesy of MEMRI TV.)
lgf: Top Islamic Cleric: “Our War with the Jews Is in the Name of Islam”: “Everything will be on our side and against Jews on [Judgment Day], at that time, even the stones and the trees will speak, with or without words, and say: “Oh servant of Allah, oh Muslim, there’s a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” They will point to the Jews. It says “servant of Allah,” not “servant of desires,” “servant of women,” “servant of the bottle,” “servant of Marxism,” or “servant of liberalism”… It said servant of Allah.“
When the Muslims, the Arabs, and the Palestinians enter a war, they do it to worship Allah. They enter it as Muslims. The hadith says: ”Oh Muslim.“ It says ”oh Muslim,“ not ”oh Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian, or Arab nationalist.“ No, it says: ”Oh Muslim.’ When we enter [a war] under the banner of Islam, and under the banner of serving Allah, we will be victorious.” More…
This is a “moderate” Imam mind you. These are the religious leaders who provide spiritual guidance to the likes of the royal families that run our ports of entry. Have a good night’s sleep everyone in Port Newark and Baltimore Harbor.

Arutz Sheva - Israel National News: “n spite of PA pledges not to incite, an interview broadcast last week featured the mother of Wafa Al-Bas, the 21-year-old Arab woman from Gaza who was arrested at the Erez Crossing in June 2005 wearing a 20-pound (9 kg) bomb under her clothes.
The PA TV interview with Al-Bas’ parents, which aired on February 20th, features her mother saying the event was hard for her - not because her daughter was on a suicide mission, but because she was arrested on her way to carry it out.” More…
Palestinian media as perverted as a child molester in a day care center, continues to promote this vile message…

Funny, our one party media hasn’t mentioned this Saudi-owned ports operation. Maybe they don’t know about it, as the company’s only been around since 1979:
(Notice the Twin Towers still standing in this photo)
The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia
Owners:
Government of Saudi Arabia, Saudi individuals and establishments
Head Office Riyadh, KSA
The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) was established in 1979 to meet the transportation needs of Importers and Exporters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East. Which ports ????
Here’s the list:
Baltimore, MD, Halifax, Canada, Newport News, VA, Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, St. John, Canada , Houston, Texas, Savannah, GA, Wilmington, NC, Port Newark, NJ , Brooklyn, NY.
Where’s the outrage?
Americans will be shocked as this story unfolds to learn just how much of our own infrastucture we have outsourced to foreign interests in the name of globalization and free enterprise!

(ScrappleFace) Just a day after releasing his proposal to create a “guest worker” program for non-citizen immigrants, Sen. Arlen Specter, R-PA, today circulated a first draft of legislation which would launch a “guest slacker” program.
“Just as a guest worker meets the needs of big business by taking a job that no American wants,” Sen. Specter said, “a guest slacker will meet the needs of big government by consuming public assistance funds that have not been disbursed to Americans.”
Under the terms of the measure, the guest slacker and his family may remain in the country for a period of three years, but then must return to the welfare rolls of his own homeland for a year, before being allowed back to the U.S. for another loafing stint of three years.
“We have welfare programs begging for clients,” Sen. Specter said. “You can hear their public service ads on the radio daily. But most hard-working Americans believe that taking handouts from the government is beneath them, undignified or even un-American.”
The senator noted that his guest slacker bill would allow some of the less popular government social programs to keep operating, and even to increase their taxpayer funding as their client list grows forcing them to hire bilingual staff to serve customers in dozens of foreign languages.
“It’s a win for the government employees and a win for the guest slackers,” he said. “That’s what you call a win-win scenario. I predict overwhelming approval in the Senate.”” – Scott Ott
What do you think of Spector’s guest worker plan?
