(WASHINGTON) — As news broke that President George Bush had landed in Iraq Monday, Democrats in Congress quickly introduced a measure to “keep all U.S. personnel of any military rank in Iraq indefinitely.”
“We have reconsidered our opposition to the surge and the U.S. occupation,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV. “As long as the commander-in-chief joins the war on terror over there, we won’t fight it over here.” — as reported by satirist Scott Ott
With Presidential “boots on the ground” the new front is not military but political. The current puppet government installed is going nowhere and the American voters, Democrat and Republican alike are getting fed up with the lack of urgency being shown by the so called Iraqi political leaders. We suspect Bush will be taking them to the woodshed, and if they go crying to Syria or Iran, you can be sure there will be hell to pay. The cost in American lives is not insignificant given in order to attempt to establish a free Iraq for the Iraqi people (not to mention picking up a strategic base or two in the process.) — ZZ
