The Associated Press: Obama, Edwards Skip Rogue Primary States

WASHINGTON (AP) — Front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton could find herself alone among Democratic presidential candidates campaigning in Florida and Michigan.
Barack Obama and John Edwards on Saturday joined three other Democrats who say they will skip states that break party rules by holding early primaries.
Their decision is a major boost to the primacy of four early voting states — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — and a welcome development to the Democratic National Committee.

Clinton aides said Friday they were reviewing the pledge. Spokesman Mo Elleithee said the New York senator is committed to the “special role” that the four states play and that she will campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire no matter the dates of their contests….
“A number of other states are undergoing a process,” Elleithee said. “And we have repeatedly said we are going to let that process play out.” … More…

This is sure to leave Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on stage all by her lonesome in two states where quite frankly she already enjoys a solid lead. It’s also rumored that the DNC is starting is having major headache attempting to keep order within the ranks… like herding cats.

Republican pundits on the other hand will be waiting with baited breath for Sept. 6th, the reported date upon which actor Fred Thompson is said to finally commit to the race. While the majority of Americans remain on the edge of their seats anticipating NFL football and the World Series, not to mention saddened in fact about the end of summer. Least of all they care about which state ventures first in the Democratic race to nominate a Presidential hopeful.
