Congress Passes Genocide Resolution vs Roman Empire

(WASHINGTON) — In the midst of a push by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, to pass a resolution labeling the Ottoman (Turk) Empire genocidal for the death of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915, House Republicans have introduced a bill condemning the Roman Empire for “the wholesale slaughter and domination of most of the known world from about 41 B.C. to 476 A.D.”Rep. Pelosi, who often refers to her Italian heritage, called the GOP move “nothing short of a hate crime” and “a cynical effort by Republicans to overshadow what could be the first significant accomplishment of the Democrat Congressional majority.”

“The resolution to label the Armenians as victims of a Turkish genocide,” Rep. Pelosi said, “is not meant to antagonize one of our few allies in the middle east, and thus hamper U.S. efforts in Iraq, but is a genuine effort to hold accountable the long-dead perpetrators of this crime. We’re simply doing retroactively what the United Nations would have done if it had existed at the time.”The Speaker said if the resolution passes, Democrats plan to push for sanctions against the Ottoman Empire, including a ban on sales of cavalry horses, Sopwith Camel fighter biplanes and Zeppelins. — as reported by satirist Scott Ott / ScrappleFace

Scott makes a great point in his satire pointing to the screwed up priorities in the minds of our Democratic leadership now controlling the House. It sure seems like Pelosi and company have a lot of extra time on their hands since they have failed in stopping the President’s agenda. Scott points out the sheer idiocy that has taken over Capitol Hill. What happened to the promise Democrats made to voters that they would be ending the war by the end of the year? No doubt this past week demonstrates that they have more important initiatives to address. Like condemning an occurance that took place back in 1913 in Aremenia. Politically motivated? For sure.

Democrats appear willing to once again increase risk to our troops, our strategic interests and our national security by jeopardizing our relationship with Turkey in order to make life a bit more difficult for this administration. Turkey, a democratic country by the way, is a country that has long been an friend of the U.S. in a region plagued with instability. What value do the Democrats see in damaging that relationship? What do they expect to gain? Are they smoking dope ??

Could it be that the real motivation is to intentionally piss off the Turks making their rumored incursion into Northern Iraq to arrest Kurdish terror insurgents into their country almost a certainty? An incursion which will further destabilize Iraqi government and thus counter the progress of the “surge” and help speed up our defeat in Iraq? Pelosi and Reid appear to be willing to risk undermining our national security, the State Department, and general sanity in an effort to win political setbacks for Republicans and the President encouraging defeat instead of stability in Iraq. They are playing into the hands of the insurgents! What side of this struggle are they on anyway to be so stupid as to invest their time in pissing off a strategic friend and ally for seventy years while we are at war? And around a historical even that took place back in 1913? What’s their real agenda and to what depths will they sink to achieve it?
