Venus Jupiter and the Moon Snuggle Up on Dec 1st

Look to the southwest after sunset on Dec. 1 for a close conjunction between three bright solar system objects: the moon, Venus and Jupiter. If you have binoculars, you might even be able to fit all three of them in the field of view. Between now and then, you can see Jupiter and Venus getting closer together each evening.

Every once in a while, something will appear in the night sky that will attract the attention of even those who normally don’t bother looking up. It’s likely to be that way on Monday evening, Dec. 1.

A slender crescent moon, just 15 percent illuminated, will appear in very close proximity to the two brightest planets in our sky, Venus and Jupiter.

People who are unaware or have no advance notice will almost certainly wonder, as they cast a casual glance toward the moon on that night, what those two “large silvery stars” happen to be? Sometimes, such an occasion brings with it a sudden spike of phone calls to local planetariums, weather offices and even police precincts. Not a few of these calls excitedly inquire about “the UFOs” that are hovering in the vicinity of our natural satellite — [Hat Tip: Joe Rao/MSNBC]

Clap Capitalism On and Off With The Clapper [Animation]

Tired of bloody revolutions and capitalistic monopolies? Mark Fiore has the answer with the economic clapper. It makes switching from one ideology to the other quick and painless with just the sound of the infamous clapper. This is exactly the radical new technology that will help improve the productivity and speed to action of our dead beat Congressional leadership.

We suspect this clip might just be a contender for the best animation of the Month… What do you think?? Should we add it to our polls?

Oldest Living Person Dies at 115

An American woman who was recognised as the world’s oldest person for a year has died at the age of 115.

Edna Parker died at a nursing home in Indiana, her family said.

Mrs Parker had been a widow since 1939 and had lived alone in her farmhouse until she was 100. She outlived her two sons, and had 31 other descendants.

With Mrs Parker’s death, Maria de Jesus of Portugal, born in 1893, is the world’s oldest person, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

Stephen Coles, who maintains the centre’s list of centenarians, said Mrs Parker’s great-nephew told him she died on Wednesday.

She did not drink alcohol or smoke, and led an active life.

Mrs Parker, a teacher before she became a farmer’s wife in 1913, advised people to get “more education,” — AP Wire and BBC

God bless her soul! Living virtually alone in her farmhouse house till she was 100! She must have been one awesome person from the sound of it. What a life perspective she must have had and what a benchmark for us all! No doubt an active mind played a role. We certainly would like to know more about her.

Obama and the Clinton Retreads

Wondering if any buyer’s remorse is setting in? Just ask a few folks on the hard left…

One after another, we are learning the names of the future Obama Administration. Behold, they are not new faces, nor are they the change agents that Obama’s campaign rhetoric promised. Instead, we are seeing Clinton retreads and a surprising move toward the political center. Rather than the far left team of new faces and new politics that the President-elect’s supporters dreamed about when they cast their ballots for the “change” they could believe in, we are seeing familiar faces and experienced pols. More than a few Obama fans are experiencing buyer’s remorse as they discover that “The One” seems to be abandoning them and their policies.

When confronted with the far left’s disappointment over the first appointments to be announced, one of the Transition team members responded, “An Obama White House will be focused on meeting the next challenge, not winning the next election.”

Well, that response does not pass the laugh test! Or perhaps the correct translation is, “We’re so sure we’ll win the next election, we don’t even have to take that into consideration.”

Clearly, Obama intends to be more than a one-term president; even before his Inauguration, he is already starting his next campaign. He is putting his chief competition, Senator Hillary Clinton, safely inside his camp and working to dispel any evidence that he is an extremist. Rather than come in and clean house, the President-elect seems to be embracing politics as usual…. More… [Hat tip: -- American Thinker]

Is the left freaking out from a case of buyer’s remorse? That’s just the beginning… they are about to implode as Janice Crouse points out further…

…Thus, Obama’s appointments are sending a signal that his administration will be far more hawkish than his campaign rhetoric indicated. In addition to the likely appointment of Senator Clinton as Secretary of State, there are other signs that President-elect Obama is changing his stance on the war in Iraq — despite official assurances that his position on Iraq hasn’t changed and won’t change. He seems to be leaning toward retaining Robert Gates, President Bush’s Defense Secretary. Also, he is leaning toward a McCain backer, General James Jones, former NATO commander, as National Security Advisor and Janet Napolitano, governor of Arizona and a supporter of the Iraq war, for heading the Homeland Security Department. These possible appointments appear to signal a weakening of his promise to withdraw troops over the next 18 months…

There is an old saying, be careful of what you wish for. The wide eyed idealist lemmings who voted for him are now falling off a cliff, and as they look up, they see Obama smiling down at them.

Would McCain have been any better? Probably not. There is a severe leadership drought in Washington. Just check out Congress and that pitiful bunch running it. Its what makes the prospect of a world depression now even more plausible. They all appear to have their heads stuck up their assess while they throw money at every problem that comes along, and every pan handling failed bank and corporation that has its hand out.  Worst yet, they are borrowing money by massive sales of treasuries to pay for it!!  Obama… Change… You da man!

Al Qaeda: Obama a House Negro

Thank you Al-Zawahri! This is just the brand of hatred that will help even further unite blacks and whites in this country against a common enemy.  It will make us even stronger as a nation and even more united as Americans and your rhetoric will hopefully help extinguish any lingering racial biases that might have resulted from our recent elections. Its time to put our national dirty laundry aside after months of political and racial divisiveness from both parties. Wake up America… they hate us ALL !!

(WASHINGTON), Nov 19 (Reuters) – Al Qaeda’s deputy leader accused Barack Obama of betraying his race and his father’s Muslim heritage on Wednesday and urged more attacks, as the group tried to counter the incoming U.S. president’s global popularity.

Osama bin Laden’s second-in-command Ayman al Zawahri attacked Obama as a “house Negro,” a racially-charged term used by 1960s black American Muslim leader Malcolm X to describe black slaves loyal to white masters.

“You represent the direct opposite of honorable black Americans like … Malcolm X,” Zawahri said in al Qaeda’s English translation of his remarks. It was al Qaeda’s first high-level commentary on Obama’s election on Nov. 4.

Zawahri criticized Obama’s support for Israel and plans to send more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, where he said they were destined to fail. He called on Islamist fighters to keep striking a “criminal” United States until it withdraws from Muslim lands.

U.S. officials and analysts, alert for signs of an attack in the period leading up to the transfer of presidential power on Jan. 20, said there was no sign of an imminent threat.

They cast Zawahri’s message as an attempt to shift al Qaeda’s focus from U.S. President George W. Bush and maintain an enmity against the United States among its supporters.

“They’re faced with what is by any accounting a change in this country,” said one U.S. counterterrorism official who asked not to be identified.

“The way they’re dealing with the change represented by the election of an African American as president of the United States is to insist that nothing has changed,” he said.

Obama’s transition office declined to comment.

His election was greeted with broad hope in the Middle East, where relations with Arabic countries were deeply strained under Bush.

Daniel Benjamin, a counter-terrorism official under former President Bill Clinton, said Obama’s election on a platform of breaking with Bush policies was a boost to American “soft power,” or nonmilitary international influence.

“I think they (al Qaeda) are deeply threatened by the fact there is a new American president and that he has come to office saying he wants to have a more constructive relationship with the one billion Muslims in the world.”

Zawahri, he said, “feels like he has a competitor for the hearts and minds.”

Zawahri referred to Obama’s father, who was raised Muslim but became an atheist. Obama is a practicing Christian. “You were born to a Muslim father, but you chose to stand in the ranks of the enemies of the Muslims,” Zawahri said.

The Malcolm X reference appears to reflect the influence of American-born al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn, believed to be close to Zawahri, said a U.S. terrorism monitor who goes by the pseudonym Laura Mansfield.

Zawahri has employed the “house Negro” insult before, when in 2007 he used the term to label Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, who are both black.

“And in you and in Colin Powell, Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X … concerning ‘House Negroes’ are confirmed,” Zawahri said in the message released on Wednesday.

His spoken remarks could also be translated as “house slaves,” but the accompanying English translation used “house Negroes.” (Additional reporting by Inal Ersan and Firouz Sedarat in Dubai) — Editing by David Storey / Reuters

Clearly its time for everyone (regardless of what you might think of Obama and the party he aligns himself with) to get behind him if he has any courage at all to stand up these islamo-facist bastards who need their asses kicked from here to pits of hell.  Al-Zawahiri thinks he is going to incite racial tensions in the U.S. by mocking our President, he will find out just how united the American people are if they ferment another terrorist attack against the U.S. under this or any other President. Our American black brothers and sisters are not going to tolerate this crap from these islamic neanderthals and neither will their white, red, brown, or rainbow colored American brothers and sisters. We are Americans first and above all else… and that unites us all regardless of our race or creed. Its part of our history and it part of our DNA as a nation.   So keep it up you ass hole and you’ll find out just how wrong you are.  — ZZ

Bush’s Last Speech

Normally, I start these things out by saying ‘My Fellow Americans.’ Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don’t know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you’re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I’ll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There’s been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I’m quitting is simple. I’m fed up with you people. I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’s really going on in the world. Or of what’s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there’s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don’t give me this ‘blood for oil’ thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would’ve already seized Iraq’s oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don’t give me this ‘Bush Lied…People Died’ crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could’ve easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be ‘discovered.’ Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named
‘Clinton’ established that policy. Bet you didn’t know that, did you?

Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan, a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he’s going to destroy us. While he’s doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it’s okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel. Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That’s not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don’t care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That’d be fine, as long as they weren’t also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven’t gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you’re not. That’s because you’ve got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I’m disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of ‘Survivor.’

Instead, you’ve grown impatient. You’re incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat’s political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it’s easy enough to find the truth. It’s all over the Internet. It just isn’t on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you’d be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you’re too stupid to leave a city that’s below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I’ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I’m going back to Crawford . I’ve got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I’m done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney’s quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2012.

So that’s it. God bless what’s left of America.

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.

PS – You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran.
