In a brilliantly cleaver strategic move ,the Obama administration has managed to out maneuver the supporters and naysayers of Rod Bloagojevich alike buy finding a useful public service opportunity for the overly verbose Governor of Illinois.
(WASHINGTON) — Resolving a standoff between Senate Democrats and the embattled Democrat governor of Illinois today President-elect Barack Obama named Gov. Rod Blagojevich as special envoy to the middle east responsible for guiding peace negotiations between Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah.
“Rod has demonstrated extraordinary skill and persistence,” said Mr. Obama. “A month after getting arrested by the FBI, this guy is still in office. That’s the kind of character it’s going to take to gain credibility with Hamas and Hezbollah.”
Mr. Obama said he would dispatch Mr. Blagojevich immediately to the troubled region.
“I have already spoken directly with Hamas leadership,” said Mr. Obama. “They have agreed to provide housing and office space for Ambassador Blagojevich and his charming wife adjacent to a weapons depot to ensure their safety.” — as reported by satirist Scott Ott [Hat Tip: ScrappleFace]
Scott Ott with yet another piece of brilliant undercover reporting deep from within the constipated bowels of the D.C. Beltway… Mr. Obama has said he will talk to Hamas, anywhere anytime in the spirit of establishing “Diplomacy” in his new administration. Why not send one of the slickest diplomates the State of Illinois has to offer, to warm things up for his eventual sit down with Hamas and Hezboulah, maybe work on the meeting details. Pehaps Blago could work out a meeting hosted in Tehran or Damascus to redeem himself in the eyes of the Democratic party?
