U.S. Government Assault on Religious Liberty – Religion Fights Back

Protect your religious liberty and freedom of conscience!

A recent edict by the US Department of Health & Human Services is “literally unconscionable.” It demands that sterilization, abortive drugs and contraception be included and mandated in all company health plans in the U.S. Including those of religious organizations! Conveniently this will go into effect in early 2013 — after the Presidential election under “Obama Care”. This mandate, which includes religious organizations who offer insurance to their employees, is an assault on religious beliefs being imposed upon a religion by the state. Hopefully it will be struck down by the Supreme Court sometime this year… but in the meantime in an unprecedented fashion, Roman Catholic bishops are fighting back with the help of the House of Representatives.

To correct the threats to religious liberty and rights of conscience posed by PPACA (Obama Care), the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act has been introduced in Congress (H.R. 1179, S. 1467). This measure will ensure that those who participate in the health care system “retain the right to provide, purchase, or enroll in health coverage that is consistent with their religious beliefs and moral convictions.” It is more important than ever that Members of Congress be urged to co-sponsor this measure.

Pushing back on threats to Religious Freedom, Catholic Bishops have finally come out swinging. They are not alone. Many religious organizations of every faith are beginning to rally behind them and recognize the threat that increasing government intrusion poses on not only the Roman Catholic faith, but all faiths — and even non-faiths. The Obama administration is prepared to trample on individual’s moral and religious rights and beliefs of conscience and will foster its agenda of increasing the control and intrusion into the lives of the American people as it sees fit as it marches toward its undeniable objective of a socialized secular welfare state in the U.S.

When the Roman Catholic Church, which has traditionally avoided open political partisanship, especially during religious services, is now beginning to fight back openly — its time for all of us to open our eyes and question this new assault on religious and individual morale rights and ask ourselves are we comfortable in giving up all our rights to a nanny state morally blind strong central government over the next 10 years?

This reaction is just the tip of the iceberg as this Obama Health Care bill, which conveniently goes into effect in AFTER the election this November. It will surely be raised as a central issue in the Presidential campaign with perhaps the first election where religious institutions decide not to turn the other cheek and openly fight back using their bully pulpit! Who will lead the charge against the Obama administration’s nanny state agenda in the fall? The American People !!
