Registry Cleaner Reviews – Registry Repair Made Easy!

The best registry cleaner software programs are designed specifically to speed up your PC and stop error messages. They do this by scanning the Windows registry and removing broken or obsolete registry entries.

This article is aimed at providing you information in a registry cleaner review so that you can make an informed decision when deciding on which registry repair tool tol use.

The registry is an important part of your PC, and you should only use the best products when dealing with it. (Failure to follow directions by removing registry keys without knowing what you are doing can cause your computer to fail on boot up. Always make a backup BEFORE using any PC registry cleaner for the first time.)

Registry cleaners are a great maintenance tool for your PC. The registry is like the central nervous system of your PC, and problems with the registry can bring even the most robust computer to its knees. Even small registry errors can cause your PC to stop running normally.

About 99% of the time, the reason that computer performance decreases and errors become more prevalent is because of software not hardware problems. That is, problems arising from your operating system (i.e. Windows) and all the programs that are installed on your computer. The remaining 1% of the time, it’s due to a malfunctioning part of your hardware.

Cleaning and optimizing the Windows registry is a good place to start. For more information about what the registry is and how and why it should be cleaned, see our Registry Repair FAQ.

However, computer errors and poor performance can also be the result of a number of other issues including a fragmented hard drive, too many junk files and unnecessary programs running in the background.

ALL IN ONE SOLUTIONS:  We have found that an all-in-one suite of tools like PC Health Advisor which addresses all these problem-areas costs virtually the same as a ‘normal’ registry cleaner is a great value.

STAND ALONE SOLUTIONS: However for specialty work in your registry, products like RegCure are superior.  Both “all-in-one” and “Stand Alone” work great but one is more focused on a particular area of your PC’s health than the other. There are usually additional benefits to this. More in depth diagnosis and clean up for one.

Note: If you’re sure you only want a simple registry cleaner, consult our review below for help finding the right one.

The Best Registry Cleaner – Which Features to Look For

Even the best and fastest of computers inevitably slow down. Over time, they get bogged down from an accumulation of old programs and files as well as obsolete entries in the Windows registry. This slows them down, just like a car that hasn’t had an oil change for too long.

The Windows registry acts like your computer’s index, storing settings and other information about all the programs running on your PC. So when programs are installed and uninstalled and files are created, moved and deleted, this registry becomes filled with obsolete information which slows your PC down as it has to search through increasing amounts of useless information to find what it needs.

Thankfully, a little piece of software known as a registry cleaner can help clean it up and get your PC back up to speed. With the help of our comprehensive reviews you should be able to find the best registry cleaner to suit your needs.

Using a registry cleaner digs all those bits and pieces out of your registry. Having all that extra detritus in your registry slows the start-up speed, and the processing speed. That’s why it is important to use the best registry cleaner that you can find to ensure none of it is left behind. Our helpful guides and program reviews are designed to help you get the most effective software for your money.

The question is then, what makes the best registry cleaner. The first thing to look for is one that is easy to use.The last thing you want is some piece of software that takes a computer science degree to use. So you want to find something that is very easy to use, with simple navigation and a clean interface. What you want is a registry cleaner that is designed for the average computer user, so that virtually all you have to do is push the scan button and let it do the rest.

The best registry cleaners not only clear out your registry, they should also include a feature to disable unnecessary programs that start automatically when you start your computer. These sap valuable memory and processor resources. These programs are often installed without your knowledge when you install other programs or when downloading certain programs from the Internet.

Another feature that the best registry cleaner should have is an up-to-date database for your registry. Additionally, a good program should allow you to backup your registry before errors are repaired so that you can restore to a previous point in case there are any issues (though this is rare). Thankfully, this feature is standard with most registry software.

Consult our various guides and reviews for more help on cleaning and optimizing your PC for performance like when you first bought it.

Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

Making sure the registry cleaner you get is compatible with your version of Windows.

Every computer, no matter how fast it starts out, eventually slows down. Part of that slow down is because a part of every Windows-based operating system called the Windows registry gets filled with all kinds of junk. It doesn’t matter if the computer is running Windows 7 or Windows XP, it’s still going to happen. If you have a computer that runs Windows, then you need to make sure that you have a good registry cleaner that’s compatible with your version whether it’s XP, Vista or Windows 7.

Every so often Windows comes out with a new operating system. Currently, the newest operating system is Windows 7, which took over from Windows Vista. Each version has its own quirks and personality. Newer operating systems require updated registry cleaner software. This is because Windows 7 has features and options that didn’t exist when Windows XP came out. Thus, an outdated cleaner for Windows XP just won’t be able to get everything on a new operating system.

Using registry optimization software that isn’t certified for the latest version of Windows can result in an ineffective repair process, leaving your computer vulnerable to errors and poor performance. Or worse, it could erase something that is necessary for the computer to run causing serious issues.

A registry is the part of the Windows operating system (whether you have XP, Vista or 7) that organizes and catalogs all your computer’s functions and processes. It’s kind of like your PC’s central database. Every program that gets added or removed makes some change to the registry. When a program gets removed it can leave some of that stuff behind, and those program fragments clog the registry up, slowing down how quickly the registry can manage your computer’s tasks, and how quickly the system starts up.

It’s like the engine in your car. If sludge starts to clog the fuel injector ports, then less gas can get in, which slows down how fast you car will start up or go. A Windows XP registry cleaner gets rid of all those fragments and bits of information, allowing everything to flow quickly again. Likewise, one that has been updated to run on Windows Vista or Windows 7 will do the job effectively for that operating system.

If you run any version of Windows on your computer and you have been noticing a decrease in performance or an increase in errors and crashes, you should check into a good registry cleaner.

Software Removal: Finding A Perfect Software Uninstaller Utility

Looking For a Perfect Software Uninstaller Utility ?

Going nuts trying to remove software from your PC?  Removing problem software applications from your PC can be a very frustrating experience.  We have found several websites and software products which are dedicated to assisting folks on how to properly uninstall software that is very difficult to uninstall properly. Two have free or trial versions that do a great job. Some have a premium or pro level that does deeper cleaning for really difficult to remove complex software.

At the end of this post there are a few links you might want to refer to if you are having trouble uninstalling or removing any of the following very complex applications:  Adobe Software, McAfee Anti Virus, AOL Toolbar, AVG Anti-Virus, Norton 2006/2007, Avast!, AVG, ESET NOD32, Internet Explorer 8, OovoO, McAfee, Microsoft Office, Nero, Sims 3, iTunes, Norton Security, and many others that are also difficult to remove.  This type of specialized software removal utility is just simply good to have set up as a “desktop icon”, always available to you, because it removes software so much better and more thoroughly than the Add / Remove Applications utility found in your Windows Control Panel.

The reason special software uninstallers are sometimes needed is that the more complex the software is, the more difficult it becomes to remove due to the registry key entries that the Add / Remove program often leaves behind. Trying to figure out how to fix this can make you go completely nuts, and in the process, if you don’t know what you are doing really mess up your PC!

The links below are to a few excellent, well known, and highly recommended software products reviewed both here and around the internet that can help keep you from spending hours of research on Google trying to find out exactly why you can’t remove any particular application from your Add / Remove area in your Control Panel.  Perfect Uninstaller for instance is one of the more popular and more widely used utilities on the web to remove problem software.  All three of these sites assist in removing problematic software.  You can decide for yourself on their websites.

The products and their websites focus on only  PCs running Windows software only, not MAC or Apple. We will be searching for and evaluating other websites and products that can assist our readers with Apple based computers in a future article.

  • Perfect Uninstaller – Probably the most popular free software removal utility – however you may need their deep registry cleaning upgrade
  • Revo Uninstaller – They have a free trial version of the Pro version which is excellent and works great.
  • Uninstall My Software – Has a growing number of how to articles to remove problem software using a combination of utilities mentioned in this article.
  • How To Uninstall iTunes – Website that contains special step by step instructions specifically on how to remove itunes software which is often extremely difficult to remove and reinstall properly. They also have added some very good reviews on alternatives to iTunes software as well.

These sites all recommend various uninstaller software programs to assist you — some have a Free Demo that often works without an upgrade or a Trial Version that will uninstall software for both simple and complex removals. For instance How To Uninstall iTunes is a website focused on helping people removing iTunes and/or installing iTunes after proper removal. If you are going nuts with iTunes re-installation problems, we recommend you take a look.

Clean Me Up Scotty!!
Sometimes PC registries get so messed up that you have to clean them or you can’t even use Add/Remove properly.  Even after using a special uninstaller program you might still need to clean up your registry if the uninstaller did not have an automatic registry cleaner built into it.  If you have severe pre-existing PC registry problems, and you don’t know it, you may have to run a good registry repair tool like RegCure first. You can find RegCure and many other top free PC optimizer software, tools, uninstallers and utilities over at Rockbridge Downloads in their Freeware Section available for immediate download. We recommend RegCure if you have severe registry problems like DLL conflicts, access violations and exception errors! It works great!  This software should be used after uninstalling any software using your Add / Remove Applications program in your Control Panel.

Good luck…

P.S. we don’t recommend that you try and fix your PC registry manually by hand. Use a good automated registry cleaner like those mentioned in this article unless you know exactly what you are doing! Messing with your PC registry is a sure way to crash your entire PC’s windows operating system and end up with a dreaded permanent visit from the “blue screen of death” !

How To Completely Uninstall and Remove All Traces of iTunes

Updated for 2016: How To Completely Uninstall and Remove All Traces of iTunes – (So it can be properly reinstalled or permanently removed and deleted from your Desktop!)

How To Uninstall iTunes

Are you going crazy trying to completely uninstall or reinstall iTunes on your PC?

Scenario: Your latest download of iTunes got corrupted on your computer somehow, or was interrupted during installation. Doesn’t matter how. It happened to me. I realized I had to uninstall itunes and then reinstall iTunes. So I thought I would just download the latest version first and try reloading it. No dice. So I thought ok, I would first remove it using the ADD/REMOVE feature in the control panel and try again. Not so simple.  I found I could not remove the iTunes program off the Programs list! Reloading itunessetup.exe gave errors and would not start. Errors like: ” iTunes could not connect because an unknown error occurred 0xE8000003 ” are common errors among others. In my ensuing hours of Google research I found many posts of folks with just these very same issues and even worse! So let me share with you some of the answers, tips and software that I found from all the forums and sources I researched that will help you solve this problem once and for all and keep you from going completely nuts!!

First here is your overall objective:
1. Before you can reinstall iTunes you must first remove all remnants of the following applications listed including all “left over” files from your registry. Yep… that scary place on your PC !! :

First try removing each of these with their own “uninstallers” directly or by using the ADD/REMOVE application located in your Control Panel. Start –> Control Panel –> Add/Remove Programs. You must remove them in the order you see them below. If you are lucky you will be able to remove all of them just using your ADD/REMOVE program and everything will be fine after a registry cleanup and re-boot.

  1. iTunes Software
  2. Quicktime
  3. Apple Software Update
  4. Apple Mobile Support
  5. Bonjour (especially Bonjour, the most problematic and most difficult component to remove properly! )
  6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
  7. iPhone (if you have it loaded)
  8. and anything else related to iTunes — that’s the tough part where you need to be careful, for instance ver.10 they started adding the Safari browser which should also be removed during an uninstall just to be safe due to the tangled registry network apple is using! **

After these steps run a Registry Cleaner like RegCure to clean up left behind registry keys. This is especially important if you plan on reinstalling iTunes after you remove it, otherwise iTunes may think you still have the original copy installed and the new install will not install properly. This is also important to run if you try using any of the faster more fool proof automated removal downloads below. You may need to run RegCure and then try the process again. You can download a free copy here.

If you are lucky the above process will work first time around!

If all else fails there is an excellent detailed manual written and designed specifically to REMOVE ALL TRACES of iTunes from your PC. It also includes special removal software in the download. You can obtain it from the links below.  It’s less than ten bucks but it kept me from spending hours going nuts trying to fix this problem. They include detailed step by step instructions and software that does the registry changes for you automatically. You must follow the instructions STEP by STEP and in the order given and be sure to read all the instructions carefully first and it will work fine in the majority of cases (it works for > 95% of users unless you have other serious problems in your PC registry)RegCure might help in this case. They offer no guarantees but it did work perfectly for me and judging from the rest of the feedback here on our site, it worked perfectly for the vast majority of our readers who have used it.  Here are a few different sources if you want to find it and try it:

Check for the latest version and to find best deal at the download sites below:

E-Junkie: http://www.e-junkie.com/rockbridge/product/371521.php

Rockbridge: http://rockbridgedownloads.com/ebooks/

Amazon: There is also an iPad / Kindle version (text only) over at Amazon as well: ( B003VD1IRM )

**Note: The downloads at E-Junkie, PayLoadZ and Rockbridge both include special uninstaller software in the download that does a full and complete registry entry cleanup automatically  They include it within the downloadable zip file / package. It works great if you decide you would prefer to use automatic removal software to remove iTunes instead of making all the registry edits yourself manually which can be dangerous and crash your pc if you make a mistake! Obviously there is no download software in the Amazon Kindle version but there are references to the links above or you can get just the software here – but without the instruction manual – just be careful if you don’t know what you are doing if you use it. Best to get the complete download with instructions.  Compare the cost alternatives first and choose the one that makes the most  sense and works for you !!

P.S. Some of you have also asked us to update this post and recommend some really good software other than iTunes to manage and organize your music.  We did some research on a number of iTunes alternatives and found that an excellent top rated alternative is one called MediaMonkey.  This software actually has a free trial version so you can check it out yourself, which we always recommend, and the program also syncs music files directly with your iPhone, iPod, iPad and even the Android and other new smart phones.  Certainly its worth checking out if you are looking for a better alternative to iTunes!
